I remember few weeks ago I got problem with my Windows. I was not being able to open my C and D drives using the normal double click method. I need to right click on the drive and either click ‘Explore’ or ‘Open’.

Unable to Double Click
I need to right click and open.

I’m sure there’s nothing wrong with my double click function because this thing only happens when I click on the drive, not the folders or other directories. I tried to scan with Avast, AVG and Norton Antivirus, nothing found.

After searching for the solution in few forums, I finally knew that there’s something to do with autorun.inf file. If you found this file in your drive partition, just delete them manually. In this case, I use portable antivirus to do the job. Don’t worry; portable antivirus is a standalone antivirus which detects unnecessary files in your pc. Yet, it’s a freeware!

Scan all your partition using portable antivirus:

If there are autorun.inf files found, they will be automatically deleted (You can set it manually).

You are done.

If you are using USB storage media (thumb drive, external hardrive etc), you need to disinfect the drive. Most probably the double click problem will occur again if you plug in the storage media in your machine. I suggest you to use Flash Disinfector (you can find the software here). It’s also a standalone application. All you have to do: Plug in the USB storage media and run Flash Disinfector. You are done.

Now, reboot your PC. Tadaaaa…Your problem solved.

Note: This is my personal method and it works! Only for windows user. All the best!

Mozilla has released the latest version of their award-winning email client Thunderbird 2.0.

  • Message Tags: Create your own tags for organizing email. Messages can be assigned any number of tags. Tags can be combined with saved searches and mail views to make it easier to organize email.
  • Visual Theme: Thunderbird 2′s theme and user interface have been updated to improve usability and maximize screen real estate.
  • Session History Navigation: Back and Forward buttons allow navigation through message history.
  • Advanced Folder Views: Customize the folder pane to show favorite, unread or recent folders.
  • Easy Access to Popular Web Mail Services: Gmail and .Mac users can access their accounts in Thunderbird by simply providing their user names and passwords.

Personally, I prefer using Thunderbird than Outlook Express. In terms of filtering junk mails, for me Thunderbird is the best. I’m using it as my primary email client since last 2 years besides webmail. It’s easy to manage and you can also use it as a feed reader, if you don’t have one.

Gonna upgrade mine. Yearghh…!

The Easy Way

I came to visit Dare to Fail site and i’m really interested to share the article which is written by Billi Lim. Here it goes :

Long ago there was a King who wants to know a lot about a lot of things but he was a bit lazy. So one day, he summoned all the wise-men in his Kingdom and asked them to compile all the knowledge and wisdom in the world and put it into one place so that he can study them.

So off went all the wisemen to do the King’s bidding. After a year, they came back with 100 volumes of books of knowledge and wisdom. Upon looking at the huge number of volumes, he began to think “I need an easier way”.

So he ordered the wisemen to condense the 100 volumes with one. Finally after another year, the wisemen came back with one volume. But the single volume was very thick – about 1000 pages. When the King saw it, the thought came into his mind again, “I need an easier way.” So he told all the wisemen that it will take him too long to finish it what more to remember it.

So he ordered that all the knowledge and wisdom to be condensed into just one single page. There was a hue and cry among the wisemen but they have no choice. They either have to do it or have their head chopped off!

So the head Wiseman gathered all his colleague together to have a meeting to resolve this predicament. The meeting last through nights – finally they came up at last with one single page – all the knowledge and wisdom of the world!

Upon hearing this, the King was so delighted and quickly ordered that the page be brought before him. At last he is going to learn all the knowledge and wisdom of the world by just reading one single page.

When the day arrived, it was not only the King who was excited to know about it. The whole Kingdom came out to want to know about it.

The King took the single page from the head Wiseman, open it and learnt the greatest wisdom of the world. On it was written just one sentence:-

“There is no FREE Lunch!”

Everybody today seems to feel that there is an easier way out. Sure there is but there is still no Free lunch! Everybody thinks that with the internet, it’s very easy to make money. They hear stories like Bill Gates, Steve Job, Jerry Yang, Amazon dot.com, Yahoo, and think that these people make their money without much effort. The problem is the real tough side has always been covered by all the Hipe.

Do you know that these very people work as much as 16 or 18 hrs a day in building their businesses? Do you know that for every one who succeeded, 1000 failed?

There is no such thing as something for nothing. You have to work it. I know many people are being introduced to many kind of opportunities. And if you all think that you can get money just by sitting- you are in for a big disappointment.

In my last article, I mentioned about a time-tested opportunity which I offered. Many called but when they realized that certain “effort” has to be put, they stopped calling.

Remember one thing, there is only one person in the world that can get result by just sitting – the HEN!

Your fellow traveler in Time.

Regards,

BILLI LIM

I need internet access in my house. I need broadband.

I’m interested in Jaring Wireless Broadband since I terminated my streamyx account (after more than 2 years service) due to some failures of my telephone line 6 months ago. I’m not going for streamyx again, of course. Since then, I’ve been online everywhere: in my office, cyber cafes, starbucks and sometimes using unsecured wireless connection where available :)

Nowadays, I got alot of things to do online after work. That is why I need broadband in my house so that I can download animes lie down on my bed while doing my work, looking for tutorials online and updating my blog.

I went to Anjung last Saturday to apply for their wireless broadband after I saw my area is in the coverage area; somewhere in Seksyen 7, Shah Alam. When I reach Anjung, the Jaring girl said that Seksyen 7 is not in their coverage. I was confused: either the Jaring girl doesn’t know how to explain to me or what. Oh my. I was sooooo disappointed.

I got one more solution. Go for Maxis broadband. I’m totally not sure how good and how bad it is. The good thing is, they will give me 1 month trial period where I can return the wireless modem back to Maxis if I’m not satisfied with the service. Hmm. Not bad. High Speed 3G Network. Why not?

High Speed 3G Broadband

I subscribed Maxis Broadband in the PC Fair KLCC last Sunday. Now still waiting for them to call me for the installation, probably within these 10 days.

Does anyone here using Maxis broadband? Let me know your level of satisfaction. Please.
